Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding derived from the roots 'oru' meaning to fold and 'kami' meaning paper. Origami is used in Japanese ceremonies such as weddings, funerals, and religious offerings. Different origami forms have different meanings. The crane, a traditional origami pattern which has been folded by most school children at one time or another, symbolizes honor and loyalty making it a common image at wedding ceremonies. The crane has also evolved into a universal symbol of peace. The butterfly is another origami which is traditionally folded around wedding gifts and symbolizes new life.
Today, the tradition of origami continues to expand and evolve and I am pleased to share my passion with you.
